Ollie the Octopus

Trash, trash, trash!!! It is everywhere you look. The problem is someone did not throw it away or recycle it. So, we are going to help clean up our world, one piece of trash at a time. You may be wondering, “Why do I need to pick up trash?” Well, less litter on the ground benefits animals and humans. Trash is dangerous because animals may eat it and it make them sick. Often, litter on the ground ends up in a river, and our rivers lead to our oceans.
Earning Ollie’s sticker is both fun and easy! Simply pick up 50 pieces of trash. You can pick up trash at home, school, the park, or anywhere you find trash! You can do that in one day or two, or three, or however many days it takes. How many pieces can you pick up? 50? 75? 100? Wow, this is going to be fun!!! Our current Surfari Pal World Record is 712. Can you beat that? I bet you can if you really try!
Your goal sheet will help you keep track of your progress. As you pick up trash, you can put the number of pieces you pick up on your Surfari Pals Goal Sheet, or you can just count out loud. If you need some help with this, just ask someone. Be sure to wash your hands after handling any type of trash. This will help get rid of nasty germs that can make you sick! What are germs? Germs are a group of tiny invaders that can make our bodies sick, so wash you hands often.
